What happens if I don't keep up with payments?
If you do not keep up with your mortgage repayments, we may take action against you, and your information will be registered with credit reference agencies. This means you could find it harder to borrow money in the future.
If you find yourself in the difficult situation of not being able to make your mortgage repayments, it is important you call us right away. We are committed to working with you, and we have a range of options that could make things easier depending on your circumstances. Click here for more information. If you do not make the agreed payments, we might have to go to court to get back any money you owe us, or to repossess your property.
If you've already taken steps to keep control of your finances, it's important to learn from your experiences
Understand where things started going wrong and recognise the warning signs. Take another look at your budget and identify what luxuries you can really live without.
Think very carefully before you take out any more credit; it is always best to take independent advice before committing to further borrowing especially for debt consolidation purposes. Should you make a decision to borrow money, remember the long-term view on costs and take time to shop around for the best deals. Wherever possible, do not rely on credit cards or other potentially expensive short-term credit types.
