DEALERS ‘CONNECT’ TO NEW SYSTEM

Technology is changing the way we all work, the latest innovation from GE Money Motor Finance, “Connection”, is designed to provide ever faster information, placing the dealer in control of their proposals and allowing them to access the whole GE Money Motor Finance resource to help close sales.

The ‘Connection’ facility is a web-based system that allows the dealer to be in real time contact with their account manager, the sales centres and operational functions within GE Money Motor Finance. It works on the same principle of an instant messaging system, such as MSN Messenger. The system has already proved to be a very successful and useful tool in a number of other GE businesses all over the world, and following the success of the test launch is now available to GE clients in the UK motor industry.

The pilot study during development of the ‘Connection’ system delivered excellent results, showing dealers were very encouraged with the extra efficiency the new system brings. Through ‘Connection’ the dealer now has more control over the progress of their proposals, and is aware that queries are being dealt with quickly and more efficiently. This new system is part of the ongoing evolution process within GE Money Motor Finance to provide dealers with industry leading service, and is the next step on from having to wait for an e-mail or a telephone call.

Sales Manager Lesley Stirling of Glasgow based Cab Direct, one of the dealers involved in the pilot scheme, explains, "The ‘Connection’ system allows us to closely follow the progress on all the deals that we pass on to GE Money Motor Finance, and because the new system uses real time technology it naturally speeds up the communication process. Most importantly, it means that we can be in touch with more than just the sales operation teams - we can also chat real time to the underwriters and any other functional area that we need to contact.... overall it's a very easy system to use!"

The ’Connection’ system is proving beneficial and more time efficient when, for example, a deal has been written and the dealer is waiting for a decision they can ‘discuss’ the progress with the underwriting team via ‘Connection’, rather than tying up telephone lines or waiting for e-mails. Similarly, if there is a problem with the documentation the dealer can be contacted immediately for confirmation or validation of information, and so speed up the process. GE Money Motor Finance now intends to roll out the programme with the aim of linking their entire dealer network to the ‘Connection’ system.

Brendan Devine, MD, GE Money Motor Finance Division, said, “We constantly strive to ensure that our dealer network receives the best and most efficient service available – and ‘Connection’ is one of our latest innovations to help this process. We decided to pilot this programme in response to feedback from dealers that indicated that complicated deals by telephone or e-mail, particularly if there was a problem with documentation or underwriting issues, could on occasions be time consuming. Therefore, I am delighted that the ‘Connection’ system has proved a success, and look forward to offering this new system to everyone in our dealer network.”
